Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Change for ‘Die Zauberflöte’

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced that soprano Aleksandra Jovanović will not be appearing in the role of Die Königin der Nacht in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” on Nov. 24, 2021.

As a result, soprano Aleksandra Olczyk will take over the role. Olczyk joins a cast that includes Tobias Kehrer as Sarastro, Attilio Glaser as Tamino, and Valeriia Savinskaia as Pamina. The cast also includes Noel Bouley, Padraic Rowan, Gideon Poppe, Flurina Stucki, Karis Tucker, Gina Perregrino, Meechot Marrero, Philipp Jekal, Burkhard Ulrich, Clemens Bieber, and Patrick Guetti. Dominic Limburg conducts a production by Günter Krämer.

Olczyk is a rising star soprano who has appeared at the Staatsoper Berlin, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro Real, Lincoln Center New York, Komische Oper, Polish National Opera, Opéra de Lille, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Volksoper Wien, and Finnish National Opera, among others.

Jovanović is scheduled to return to the stage for a performance of “Die Zauberflöte” at the Theater Basel on Dec. 2, 2021.
