Deutsche Grammophon to Stream ‘Parsifal’

By Francisco Salazar

Deutsche Grammophon has announced that it will continue as the global media partner with the Bayreuth Festival.

In 2022, the label launched its ground-breaking classical music platform, STAGE+, which hosted the international premiere screenings of Valentin Schwarz’s thought-provoking new production of “Der Ring des Nibelungen.”

The collaboration will open with Jay Scheib’s highly anticipated “Parsifal” from the Festspielhaus on STAGE+ one day after its live premiere. Virtual festivalgoers will be able to watch the opera on STAGE+ on July 26, 2023 and July 27 in the U.S.

The production will star Elīna Garanča as Kundry and tenor Andreas Schager in the title role. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts the production.

This is the latest collaboration between Bayreuth and DG. They have previously collaborated on Tobias Kratzer’s “Tannhäuser (2019)” and Dmitri Tcherniakov’s “Der fliegende Holländer (2021).”
