
Des Moines Metro Opera Announces Director Change for ‘Salome’
By David SalazarDes Moines Metro Opera has announced an director change for its production of “Salome.”
The company revelaed that Alison Pogorelc will direct the Strauss opera in lieu of Nathan Troup who withdrew from the production for personal reasons.
“I’m thrilled that Alison will make her debut with us this season for our new production of ‘Salome,’” Michael Egel, the Linda Koehn General and Artisic Director said, in an official press release. “We are fortunate that an accomplished director who possesses a strong command of the opera, its story, dramaturgy and text was already with our company in another capacity and has stepped quite capably into the leadership of this production.”
Pogorelc made her directing debut at the Kennedy Center in a production of Händel’s “Partenope with the Washington National Opera’s Cafritz Yuong Artist Program. She has also worked on the staff of the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Alome” will star Sara Gartland, Chad Shelton, Normann Garrett, and Gwendolyn Jones.
