Denyce Graves Foundation to Present Symposium 2023

The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University is set to welcome visiting classical voice students to its Baltimore campus for a symposium and intensive coaching sessions as part of Shared Voices, a collaboration between HBCUs and leading conservatories designed to foster a more diverse classical vocal arts.

The event will be led by Peabody faculty member Denyce Graves and presented by the Denyce Graves Foundation.

The three-day showcase will include masterclasses, workshops, simulated auditions, and opportunities to engage with artists and industry experts like bass-baritone Simon Estes, composer Carlos Simon, President and Director of Minnesota Opera Ryan Taylor, and Washington National Opera Artistic Director Francesca Zambello.

The events will be public and will also be live streamed. There will also be a grand finale concert featuring acclaimed countertenor John Holiday.

The symposium will be held from Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, 2023.
