Christopher Lichtenstein has extended his contract with the Den Jyske Opera (Danish National Opera).

Lichenstein will be the chief conductor in Aarhus for the next three years, and beginning in the summer of 2025, he will also take up the position of chief conductor at Theater Osnabrück.

The conductor has been the Music Director of the Danish National Opera (Den Jyske Opera) since September 2020 and first conducted the company in the Scandinavian premiere of Weinberg’s “The Passenger” in 2018. He has led Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and the world premiere of Karsten Fundal’s “Inkognito Royal.”

He has also conducted at the Staatstheater Kassel, Theater Wolfsburg, the Regensburg Philharmonic, and Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. He began his career as a repetiteur and vocal coach at Staatstheater Braunschweig and eventually became the First Kapellmeister.

This November, Lichtenstein conducts the Odense Symphony Orchestra.
