Davinia Rodríguez Takes Over ‘Tosca’ At Teatro Regio Di Torino

Carmen Giannattasio has dropped out of the Teatro Regio di Torino’s upcoming production of Puccini’s Tosca.”

The company announced that due to Giannattasio’s absence, Spanish soprano Davinia Rodríguez will take over the title role. This will mark Rodríguez’s role debut and her first stage performances of the 2019-20 season.

Rodríguez performed at the Teatro Regio di Torino in 2017 in the role of Nedda in “Pagliacci” and has also appeared at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Theater an der Wien, Royal Opera Muscat, and Teatre di San Carlo, Napoli. The soprano is set to make her house debut at the LA Opera this winter and will also appear in a new production of “Il Pirata” at the Teatro Real.

Rodríguez will join a cast that includes Jonathan Tetelman as Cavaradossi and Gevorg Hakobyan as Scarpia. The production will also star Anna Pirozzi, Marcelo Álvarez, and Ambrogio Maestri in the first cast. Daniel Oren conducts the production which opens on Oc. 15 and runs through the 29th.
