David Portillo & Yasuko Oura Kick Off Valhalla Media’s Fall 2020 Programming

By David Salazar

Valhalla Media will present “Love Letters: A Recital With David Portillo” on Sept. 6, 2020.

The famed tenor will perform live from the Glessner House in Chicago, Illinois alongside pianist Yasuko Oura. The duo will take on Schubert’s “Dichterliebe” as well as songs by Roger Quilter and “My Dearest Ruth,” composed by Chicago’s own Stacy Garrop.

The new concert event is set to kick off at 1:30 p.m. CDT and will stream via the company’s platform. The concert will be on-demand for seven days thereafter.

This is the first of Valhalla Media’s Fall 2020 slate. The company, which launched earlier this summer, presented two live performances as part of its summer programming. The performances included a presentation of “Hansel and Gretel” on June 27 as well as a recital starring baritone Will Liverman and pianist Paul Sanchez on June 26.
