Dario Di Vetri Headlines Historic ‘Turandot’ at Stara Zagora State Opera

Dario Di Vietri is set to close the summer season with Puccini’s “Turandot.”

The tenor will perform the opera at the Stara Zagora State Opera in Bulgaria on Sept. 4 in the evocative setting of the archaeological site of Seuthopolis, an ancient city founded by the Thracian King Seuthes III around 325-315 A.C.

The Stara Zagora State Opera will perform the opera for the first time in a production directed by Ognian Draganoff. The cast will also include Tanya Ivanova as Turandot, Rosalina Mochukova as Liù, and Ivajilo Djurov as Timur. Ivailo Krinchev conducts the opera.

Di Vietri has performed the role of Calaf to great acclaim around the world including the Arena di Verona, the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, and the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts of Taiwan, among others.

Meanwhile, Ivanova has performed at the Sofia Opera, and the State Opera of Plovdiv. She performs regularly at the Stara Zagora State Opera.
