Darbar Festival Announces 2024 Season

The Darbar Festival has announced its 2024 season.

The festival, which will take place between Oct. 24 to 27, is the world’s largest festival of Indian classical music outside India. The festival presents the finest international and U.K. Indian classical musicians at the Barbican Centre.

Here are the Vocal highlights.

Shalmalee Joshi is the foremost disciple of Pt. Ratnakar Pai, is an eminent Hindustani classical vocalist. Combining technical precision with profound emotional depth, her performances are not just concerts, but profound experiences that resonate with the soul.

Performance Date: Oct. 25, 2024

India’s foremost female vocalist, Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, is renowned for her crystal clear, sublime tonal note bending. Her khayal (imagination) vocal style draws on her PhD in Biochemistry as well as Sufi poet-saints.

Performance Date: Oct. 26, 2024

Aruna Sairam performs music that is exuberant, intense, serene and dramatic, using her sublime voice to transport you into the sound of nature for a profoundly healing experience.
