Danielle De Niese, Sarah Connolly, Allan Clayton, Barbara Hannigan Headline Glyndebourne’s Open House in August 2020

Glyndebourne has announced the latest operas that it will be streaming as part of its Open House program.

First up will be David McVicar’s production of “Giulio Cesare” starring Danielle de Niese as Cleopatra and Sarah Connolly as Cesare. Other cast members include Alexander Ashworth, Patricia Bardon, Angelika Kirchschlager, Rachid Ben Abdeslam, Christophe Dumaux, and Christopher Maltman. William Christie conducts.

Streaming Date: August 9, 2020

Next up is Brett Dean’s “Hamlet.” The new opera stars Allan Clayton, Barbara Hannigan, Sarah Connolly, Rod Gilfry, Kim Begley, John Tomlinson, David Butt Philip, Jacques Imbrailo, Rupert Enticknap, Christopher Lowrey, James Newby, John Findon, and Anthony Osborne. Vladimir Jurowski conducts a production by Neil Armfield.

Streaming Date: August 16, 2020

Closing out the month of August will be Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen.” The baroque opera stars Miriam Allan, Lucy Crowe, Claire Debono, Anna Devin, Helen-Jane Howells, Rachel Redmond, Carolyn Sampson, Robert Burt, Sean Clayton, Ed Lyon, Adrian Ward, Desmond Barrit, Andrew Foster-Williams, William Gaunt, Terrence Hardiman, Helen Bradbury, Susannah Wise, Oliver le Sueur, Oliver Kieran Jones, Sally Dexter, Joseph Millson, Jotham Annan, Taliesin Knight, Desmond Barrit, Robert Burt, Paul McCleary, Jack Chissick, Brian Pettifer, and Roger Sloman. William Christie conducts a production directed by Jonathan Kent.
