Daniela Mack, Vanessa Vasquez & Sean Panikkar To Headline Lyric Opera Of Kansas City’s 2018-19 Season

The Lyric Opera of Kansas City has announced its 2018-19 season.

The new season is filled with numerous important debuts from some of today’s rising stars and is also filled with four productions from a diverse repertoire.

The season opens with Bernstein’s “West Side Story” in Francesca Zambello’s classic production based on the original production directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins. Vanessa Becerra makes her Kansas City debut in the role of Maria while Andrew Bidlack plays the role of Tony. Brian Vu makes his company debut with David Charles Abell conducting the modern masterpiece.

Performance Dates: Sept. 22-30, 2018

Ryan McAdams conducts Puccini’s classic “Madama Butterfly” in Ron Daniels’ production. Karah Son sings the title role alongside Georgy Vasiliev as Pinkerton. Both stars make their house debuts alongside Kristen Choi, who plays Suzuki.

Performance Dates: Nov. 3-11, 2018

Vanessa Vasquez and Daniela Mack make their Kansas City debuts in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte.” The two are joined Alasdair Kent, John Viscardi, Patrick Carfizzi, and Maureen McKay. Jane Glover conducts James Alexander’s production.

Performance Dates: March 16-24, 2019

Antony Walker conducts Andrew Sinclair’s production of Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers.” Sean Panikkar stars as Nadir alongside Maeve Höglund who sings Leila. John Moore is Zurga while Christian Zaremba is Nourabad.

Performance Dates: April 27-May 5, 2019
