Klaus Florian Vogt has canceled his upcoming performance of “Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg” at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

The Bayerische Staatsoper announced that due to illness Vogt was forced to withdraw from the Sept. 23, 2018 performance. As a result, Daniel Kirch will now sing the role on Sunday.

Kirch is an established tenor who has performed at the Staatsoper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Semperoper Dresden, Vienna Staatsoper/Burgtheater, Oper Köln, and the Liceu. He is set to perform in the Ring Cycle at the Theater Chemnitz and will also be at the Dutch National Opera in a production of “Tannhauser.” He will also perform “Tristan und Isolde” at Oper Leipzig.

Vogt is set to return to the production on Sept. 27 and 30, 2018.
