Daniel Johansson, Huw Montague Rendall, Louise Alder & Kateřina Kněžíková Lead Glyndebourne Festival’s 2025 Season

The Glyndebourne Festival has announced its 2025 season.

New Productions

The season will see the company’s first-ever production of Wagner’s “Parsifal” directed by Jetske Mijnssen. Robin Ticciati conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra with a cast that includes Daniel Johansson as Parsifal and mezzo-soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as Kundry.

Performance Dates: May 17 – June 24, 2025

Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” will get a new production directed by Mariame Clément. Riccardo Minasi conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and a cast that includes Huw Montague Rendall and Louise Alder as Count and Countess Almaviva, bass-baritone Michael Nagl as Figaro, and soprano Anna El-Khashem as Susanna.

Performance Dates: June 29-August 21, 2025

Revivals

Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” returns with Rory Macdonald conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The cast includes mezzo-soprano Cecilia Molinari as Rosina, baritone Germán Olvera as Figaro, tenor Jonah Hoskins as Count Almaviva, and baritone Fabio Capitanucci as Dr Bartolo.

Performance Dates: May 16 – July 3, 2025

Händel’s “Saul” will star baritone Christopher Purves as Saul, countertenor Iestyn Davies as David, tenor Linard Vrielink as Jonathan, and the sopranos Sarah Brady and Soraya Mafi as Merab and Michal. Jonathan Cohen conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment

Performance Dates: June 8-July 24, 2025

Renato Girolami stars in Verdi’s “Falstaff” alongside Anna Princeva as Alice Ford and Rodion Pogossov as Ford. Sian Edwards conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Performance Dates: July 13-August 24, 2025

The season concludes with Leoš Janáček’s “Káťa Kabanová.” The cast includes Kateřina Kněžíková as Káťa, Nicky Spence as Boris, Susan Bickley as Kabanicha, John Tomlinson as Dikój, and Miles Mykkanen as Tichon. Robin Ticciati conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra

Performance Dates: August 3-23, 2025
