Daniel Barenboim, Florian Boesch & Riccardo Muti Lead Musikverein Wien’s Reopening Concerts

The Musikverein Wien has announced its June schedule which will open June 5 to an audience of 100.

The series at the famed Austrian concert hall will open with Daniel Barenboim leading the Wiener Philharmoniker in music of Mozart and Beethoven. Barenboim will also perform in two recitals of Beethoven sonatas.

Riccardo Muti will conduct the Wiener Philharmoniker in a program of Strauss, while Philippe Jordan will lead the orchestra in music of Beethoven. Manfred Honeck will also conduct the orchestra in a program of music by Verdi and Tchaikovsky.

Other soloists that will grace the stage of the renown concert hall will be Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Julian Rachlin, Altenberg  Trio, Hanna Bachmann, the Alban Berg Ensemble, and Rudolf Buchbinder.

Baritone Max Müller will perform a recital alongside pianist Volker Nemmer while baritone Florian Boesch and pianist Justus Zeyen will perform a recital of music by Schubert, Strauss, and Schumann.

In July a new program will be announced allowing for 250 audience members to attend.
