The Czech Philharmonic will be presenting a concert to an audience of 500 people at Sychrov Castle on June 24, 2020.

The performance is dedicated to the healthcare workers in the Czech Republic who have been a major force behind the country’s stabilization during the outbreak of COVID-19.

Since the lockdown began, the orchestra has presented a series of concerts, initially with two players wearing masks, to build up to the 64 players who will perform in the Midsummer concert, led by Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov.

The program will feature the Overture and Scherzo from Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” as well as Haydn’s “Trumpet Concerto in E flat Major,” and Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5.” The concert will also be broadcast on Czech TV and the Czech Philharmonic’s Facebook page.

The concert will be held in accordance with the current health guidelines, and before the concert, all musicians will be tested for the coronavirus.

In attendance will be Czech Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek, in partnership with the National Heritage Institute.
