
Curtis Opera Theatre to Present ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’
By Francisco SalazarThe Curtis Opera Theatre continues its Centennial Series with Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.”
The opera will be presented on Feb. 27–28, 2025 and March 1–2, 2025 at the Perelman Theater, Kimmel Center.
Conductor Nicholas McGegan and director Marcus Shields lead the work. Robert Frazier and Evan Gray share the role of Figaro alongside Nathan Schludecker and Emilio Vasquez as Count Almaviva, Sarah Fleiss and Juliette Tacchino as Susanna, Emily Damasco and Kylie Kreucher as Countess Almaviva, and Katie Trigg as the pageboy Cherubino.
The cast is rounded out by Judy Zhuo Marcellina, Yulin Yan as Bartolo, Jackson Allen as Don Basilio, Hongrui Ren as Don Curzio, Dalia Medovnikov and Maya Mor Mitrani as Barbarina, and Ross Macatangay as Antonio.
In a statement, McGegan said, “I am really thrilled to be returning to Curtis and to be conducting performances of Le nozze di Figaro, which is a piece that I have loved for over sixty years. I am also very much looking forward to working on the opera with the students in the opera program and the orchestra. I am sure that Marcus’ production will be very exciting, and I am so delighted to be part of the team putting Mozart’s masterpiece on stage.”
