Curtis Institute of Music Unveils 100th Anniversary Season

Curtis Institute of Music has announced its 2024-25 season, the 100th anniversary of the institution.

Here is a rundown of the vocal performances on offer.

First up is “The Comet / Poppea,” a 90-minute adaptation of the Monteverdi opera and George Lewis and Douglas Kearney work. Yuval Sharon directs and Marc Lowenstein conducts the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and Curtis Opera Theatre.

Performance Dates: Nov. 1, 2024

Teddy Abrams leads a performance of Walker’s “Lilacs” for voice and orchestra. Also on the program is music by TJ Cole, Barber, and Copland.

Performance Dates: Dec. 13, 2024

Curtis Opera theatre presents “Le Nozze di Figaro.” Nicholas McGegan conducts and Marcus Shields directs.

Performance Dates: Feb. 27, 2025

David Charles Abell conducts “Candide.” Emma Griffin directs the Curtis Opera Theatre production.

Performance Dates: April 11, 2025

The Centennial gala at Penn Museumwill feature performances by J’Nai Bridges (Opera ’12), Amanda Majeski (Opera ’09), and Karen Slack (Opera ’02).
