CueTV to Stream Teatro Real’s ‘Rusalka’

By Francisco Salazar

CueTV is set to stream Dvorak’s “Rusalka” in a production from the Teatro Real de Madrid.

The new production showcases Dvorak’s main character as a ballet dancer with injured feet who relies on crutches to aid her movement. Directed by Christof Loy, the production is set in the foyer of an opera house.

Ivor Bolton conducted a cast that included star soprano Asmik Grigorian in the title role, Eric Cutler as the Prince, Karita Mattila as the Foreign Princess, Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev as Vodnik, and Katarina Dalayman as Jezibaba.

OperaWire raved about Grigorian noting, she “was sublime in her vocal display of dramatism and desperation.”

The streaming service will begin showing the new production on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. EST, 8 p.m. Berlin time, and 7 p.m. London time.
