By Francisco Salazar

CueTV has announced that it will premiere Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro” on Nov. 23, 2021.

The streaming platform will present a 2021 production from the Berlin State Opera which premiered during the lockdown and marked the start of a Mozart-Da Ponte cycle with other productions scheduled for the current season.

The new production by Vincent Huguet is set in the 1980s and Rosina is a rock star married to her manager, Count Almaviva. The costumes reflect this era of fashion with neon colors, animal prints, and oversized blazers and the sets that are reminiscent of a record label office.

Daniel Barenboim conducts the production which stars Gyula Orendt, Elsa Dreisig, Nadine Sierra, Riccardo Fassi, and Emily D’Angelo.

The production will premiere at 2 p.m. ET.
