Cristina Pasaroiu Replaces Nadine Sierra In Orange

By Francisco Salazar

Nadine Sierra has canceled her upcoming performances at the Chorégies d’Orange.

The company announced that due to a virus the soprano would not be able to perform the upcoming performances of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” As a result, Romanian soprano Cristina Pasaroiu will replace Sierra in the role of Donna Anna.

Pasaroiu has performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Frankfurt Opera, Nice Opera House, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Bregenz Festival. The soprano next performs at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and begins her 2019-20 season at the Seoul Arts Center.

The soprano is set to join a cast that includes Erwin Schrott, Adrian Sâmpetrean, Karine Deshayes, Stanislas de Barbeyrac, Annalisa Stroppa, Igor Bakan, and Alexeï Tikhomirov.

“Don Giovanni” opens on August 2 and closes on August 6, 2019.

Sierra returns to the stage in September for a production of Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette” at the San Francisco Opera.
