In the summer of 2024 the Court Theatre of Drottningholms will present Jean-Baptiste Lully’s grand French opera “Armide.”

Musical director and conductor Francesco Corti leads the French creative team in the first staging of a Lully opera at Drottningholm. Florent Siaud directs, Natalie Van Parys serves as choreographer, and the set and costume designer is Philippe Miesch.

The cast will be announced at a later date. Performances run August 3 -17, 2024.

Lully’s “Armide” premiered in 1686 and marks the last collaboration the composer had with Philippe Quinault, who wrote the libretto. Excerpts of the opera’s music appeared in Bergman’s famed “Scenes from a Marriage.”
