The Coro Nacional de Colombia will present “The Sound of the Soul” on April 11, 2026.
The concert is the first that the ensemble dedicates to Negro Spirituals and gospel music and features a program led by the ensemble’s principal conductor Diana Carolina Cifuentes and assistant conductor Jeisson Segura Herrera.
The evening traces the roots of the Afro-American musical tradition through a choral narrative encompassing themes of pain, resistance, and hope. The concert marks a new artistic direction for the ensemble, expanding its repertoire beyond the European choral canon to embrace traditions born from contexts of oppression and transformed into expressions of spiritual transcendence and human dignity.
The showcase will commence at 8 p.m. at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá.
