Cork Opera House to Premiere ‘Morrígan’

Ireland’s Cork Opera House is set to present “Morrígan” by composer/conductor John O’Brien and librettist Éadaoin O`Donoghue on July 28, 2022.

The opera centers on the story of Deirdre and the Sons of Usna, as well as a king corrupted by lust and revenge and ultimately destroys his own kingdom as a result.

The performance will star Kim Sheean, MajellaCullagh, Jung Soo Yun, Julian Tovey, Joe Corbett, Simon Morgan, Viktor Priebe, Emma Nash , Justine Viani, Annie Gill, Gráinne Gillis, Ross Scanlon, Ben Thapa, Owen Gilhooly, Will Frost, Karen Underwood, Patrick Lynch, Liv Amerie Gregorio, Patrick Nolan, and Sarah Ryan.

The production will be directed by Conor O’Brien and conducted by Conor Palliser. It will feature set design by Alyson Cummins, costume design by Sinéad Cuthbert, lighting design by Stephen Dodd, and sound design by Paul Ashe-Browne. Éadaoin O’Donoghue will be the Associate Director.

There will be a total of three performances in the run with two other shows on July 30 and 31, 2022.
