The Staatsoper Stuttgart has announced its 2022-23 season

Premieres

“Liebstod” from concept by Johannes Müller and Philine Rinnert will be performed.

Performance Dates: Sept. 23-25, 2022

Wagner’s “Siegfried” will star Daniel Brenna, Matthias Klink, Tommi Hakala, David Steffens, Beate Ritter, Stine Marie Fischer, and Simone Schneider. Cornelius Meister conducts the production by Jossi Wieler and Sergio Morabito. 

Performance Dates: Oct. 9, 2022-April 8, 2023

Claudia Muschio, Kai Kluge, Charles Sy, Björn Bürger, Johannes Kammler, and Giulio Mastrototaro lead Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” with Michele Spotti and Vlad Iftinca conducting. Anika Rutkofsky directs the new production.

Performance Dates: Oct. 30-Dec. 25, 2022

Daniel Kirch, Shigeo Ishino, Alberich Patrick Zielke, Christiane Libor, Esther Dierkes, and Stine Marie Fischer lead Wagner’s “Götterdämmerung.” Cornelius Meister conducts the new production by Marco Štorman.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29-April 10, 2023

Florian Ziemen and Christopher Schumann conduct Andreas Schilling’s “Der Räuber Hotzenplotz” in a production by Elena Tzavara. The work stars Franz Hawlata, Maria Theresa Ullrich, Elliott Carlton Hines, Dominic Große, Torsten Hofmann, Heinz Göhrig and Clare Tunney.

Performance Dates: Feb. 4-April 30, 2023

Moritz Kallenberg, Shigeo Ishino, Paweł Konik, Andreas Wolf, Fanie Antonelou, Alexandra Urquiola, Charles Sy, Johannes Kammler, Kyriaki Sirlantzi, Linsey Coppens, Andrew Bogard, and Michael Nagl lead Bach’s “Johannes-Passion.” Diego Fasolis conducts the production by Ulrich Rasche.

Performance Dates: April 2-29, 2023

Sveinsson’s “Der Klang der Offenbarung des Göttlichen” is set to be conducted by Christopher Schumann.

Performance Dates: April 4 & 15, 2023

Messian’s “Saint François d’Assise” will include a cast led by Beate Ritter, Michael Mayes, Moritz Kallenberg, Danylo Matviienko, Elmar Gilbertsson, and Gerhard Siegel. Titus Engel conducts the production by Anna-Sophie Mahler.

Performance Dates: June 11-July 9, 2023

Revivals 

Dvorak’s “Rusalka” will be conducted by Cornelius Meister and Killian Farrell and will star Kyungho Kim, Esther Dierkes, Reflektra, Adam Palka, Goran Jurić, Alexander Cameltoe, Katia Ledoux, and Judy LaDivina.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21-Nov. 26, 2022

Elliott Carlton Hines, Moritz Kallenberg, Shigeo Ishino, Deborah Saffery, Beate Ritter, Marcel Beekman, Laia Vallés, Paweł Konik, and Maria Theresa Ullrich lead Rameau’s “Platée” with Benjamin Bayl conducting.

Performance Dates: Sept. 25-Oct. 24, 2022

Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” will star Johannes Kammler, Federica Lombardi, Sarah-Jane Brandon, Josefin Feiler, Michael Nagl, Linsey Coppens, and Shannon Keegan. Karsten Januschke conducts.

Massenet’s “Werther” will star Atalla Ayan in the title role, Jorge Ruvalcaba, Rachael Wilson, and Beate Ritter. Alejo Pérez conducts.

Josefin Feiler, Esther Dierkes, Ida Ränzlöv, and Diana Haller lead Humperdinck’s “Hänsel and Gretel.” The production will also star Rosie Aldridge, Natalie Karl, Christian Miedl, Jasper Leever, Catriona Smith, and Clare Tunney. Cornelius Meister and Killian Farrell conduct.
