Corinne Winters, Louise Alder, Elina Garança & Barbara Hannigan Lead Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia’s 2023-24 Season

The Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia has announced its 2023-24 season. Here is a look at the vocal performances.

Concerts 

Jakub Hrůša conducts Corinne Winters, Richard Samek, and Roman Hoza in a Smetana and Dvořák program.

Performance Dates: Oct. 19-21, 2023

Matthias Goerne performs selections from Mahler’s “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” under Manfred Honeck. The program also includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 25-28, 2023

Tan Dun leads the Italian premiere of “Buddha Passion” with soloists Candice Chung, HongiWu, Han Peng, and Han Yan.

Performance Dates: Nov. 23-25, 2023

Philippe Jordan conducts Brahms’ German Requiem with Louise Alder and Gerald Finley. The program also includes Mahler Symphony No. 10: Adagio.

Performance Dates: Dec. 7-10, 2023

John Nelson conducts Händel’s “Messiah” with Sara Blanch, Sasha Cooke, Krystian Adam, and Alex Esposito as the soloists.

Performance Dates: Dec. 20-22, 2023

Antonio Pappano celebrates Claudio Abbado with Verdi’s Requiem. The concert will include soloists Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, Elina Garança, SeokJong Baek, and Ildar Abdrazakov. 

Performance Dates: Feb. 3-5, 2024

Barbara Hannigan leads a Copland, Haydn, Offenbach, and Weill concert.

Performance Dates: April 18-20, 2024

Daniele Gatti conducts a Verdi gala with choruses and selections from “Luisa Miller,” “I lombardi alla prima crociata,” “Macbeth,” “Don Carlo,” “Nabucco,” “I vespri siciliani,” “Otello,” and “Aida.”

Performance Dates: May 30-June 1, 2024

The season concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Martha Argerich playing Beethoven’s  Piano Concerto No. 2. Lahav Shani conducts.

Performance Dates: June 13-15, 2024

Chamber Music 

Julian Prégardien and Daniel Heide perform Schubert’s “Winterreise.”

Performance Date: Feb. 14, 2024

Andrea Secchi conducts the chorus in a program of music by Brahms, Schumann, and Elgar.

Performance Date: May 15, 2024
