Copenhagen Opera Festival Announces New Artistic Director

By Francisco Salazar

The Copenhagen Opera Festival has announced that Amy Lane will become the company’s new artistic director.

Lane will become the first woman and foreigner to lead the festival in this position since its inception in 2009.

Lane is currently the Head Staff Director for The Royal Opera, Covent and has been in charge of revivals for Kasper Holten’s production of “Don Giovanni” and Jonathan Kent’s production of “Tosca.”

The board emphasized that our new festival director should have a strong international network, so the festival can attract international soloists and conductors who are part of our success as an opera festival,” Søren Bojer Nielsen, Chairman of the Board stated. “But at the same time, the new director must understand our priority and we believe that Amy Lane is capable of lifting both tasks, as well as her developmental aspirations and her plans are extremely interesting, “
