Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Announces 2021 Summer Music Festival Lineup

Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra has announced the lineup of its 2021 Summer Music Festival, which features several vocal performances and one opera.

Here’s a peek at what audiences have to look forward to at this year’s Festival. Except where noted, all performances will take place at St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington, CT.

The Festival kicks off with Puccini’s beloved “La bohème” in a production by Connecticut Lyric Opera and directed by Jan Mason. The show stars Daniel Juarez as Rodolfo; Jūratė Švedaitė as Mimì; Levi Hernadez as Marcello; Maria Margiolakou as Musetta; and Samuel Bowen as Schaunard. The performance will take place at Alfred E. Burr Memorial (AKA Burr Mall): 570 Main Street, Hartford.

Performance Date: July 11, 2021 at 8:00 pm

Next up is a recital by soprano Jūratė Švedaitė. At the time of this writing, the program and details are TBA.

Performance Date: July 16, 2021

The Connecticut Lyric Opera will be presenting the music of J.S. Bach, featuring the company’s summer opera soloists who will be accompanied by the Virtuosi Summer Music Institute Ensemble.

Performance Date: July 23, 2021 at 7:30 pm

Opera students will have their chance to shine in the Virtuosi Summer Music and Opera Institute Student Showcase.

Performance Date: July 28, 2021 at 7:30 pm

Mezzo-Soprano Rebecca de Almeida and Pianist Alex Nakhimovsky will spotlight jazz and South American rhythms.

Performance Date: July 30, 2021 at 7:30 pm
