Conductor Gustavo Gimeno Extends Contract With the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg

Gustavo Gimeno, the Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (OPL) since 2015, has extended his contract through the end of the 2024/25 season.
In a press statement, Stephan Gehmacher, Director-General of the Philharmonie Luxembourg and the OPL, expressed his satisfaction over the extension of the agreement, adding that the orchestra has undergone an impressive development under Gustavo Gimeno’s leadership during the past five years.
“It feels natural to continue on this path during the coming years, and I am happy to be able to support Gustavo and the OPL in their mission,” added Gehmacher.
In his own statement, Gimeno expressed his joy over the extension of the contract, stating that this is a wonderful chance for the orchestra and himself to continue their artistic development together.
Gustavo Gimeno is also the incoming Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO), starting his tenure in 2020-21.
Gimeno has recently conducted Verdi and Piave’s “Rigoletto” at the Opernhaus Zürich, as well as Verdi and Piave’s “Macbeth” at Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, among others.
