The Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar has announced that conductor Andreas Wolf has been appointed the new Erster Kapellmeister.

“I am really pleased to welcome Andreas Wolf, an experienced and proven high-ranking conductor and musician at the DNT and the Staatskapelle Weimar,” said Generalintendant Hasko Weber. “As the first conductor, he will be responsible for the continuous ensemble and repertoire work as well as for the musical work with our orchestra,” added Weber.

After Wolf’s first positions in Wuppertal and Münster, further engagements followed at the Staatstheater Kassel, Staatsoper Hannover, Staatstheater Saarbrücken, and, most recently, at the Theater Lübeck. Wolf has also performed as guest conductor with such orchestras as the Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Arché Pisa, Hamburger Symphonikern, Orchester des Nationaltheaters Mannheim, and the Badischen Staatskapelle Karlsruhe.

Wolf will take over his new position at the Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar in 2021-22 season.
