Concerts at Saint Thomas To Feature Three Holiday Concerts

Concerts at Saint Thomas is set to celebrate the holiday season with Handel’s Messiah and other traditional works.

First up, the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys and New York Baroque Incorporated will perform Handel’s Messiah with Daniel Hyde conducting soloists soprano Elizabeth Weisberg, mezzo-soprano Meg Bragle, tenor Thomas Cooley, and bass Alexander Dobson. Two such performances are scheduled for Dec. 4 and 6, 2018.

Then on Dec. 13, 2018, Britten’s introspective “A Ceremony of Carols” will be presented with the Boys of the Saint Thomas Choir and harpist Sara Cutler. The famous sequence of carols will be performed alongside other holiday works under the direction of Daniel Hyde.

The final concert will include Olivier Messiaen’s holiday organ masterpiece, La Nativité du Seigneur on Dec. 22. The nine-piece cycle will offer listeners a synesthetic world of color and sound.
