Concerts at Saint Thomas Reveals 2018-19 Season Line-up
By Logan MartellEntering into its third season, the Concerts at Saint Thomas has announced its line-up of performances. The season, which opens on Oct. 5, will see the inauguration of the new Miller-Scott Organ, which will be prominently featured throughout the season in a number of different concerts.
Highlights of the 2018-19 season include Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” Handel’s “Messiah,” and more, including a performance by the famous Choir of King’s College, Cambridge.
All performances will take place at Saint Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street in New York City.
The 2018-19 season is as follows:
Grand Organ Series
With performances by organists Daniel Hyde, Benjamin Sheen, Katelyn Emerson, Chelsea Chen, and Ken Cowan
Performance Dates: Oct. 5, 2018. 7:00 PM; Dec. 22, 2018; Jan. 19, 2019; Feb. 16, 2019; March 23, 2019; and May 18, 2019.
Perry, Janacek, Bernstein, Poulenc, and Barber
Performed by The Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys, with the Orchestra of St Luke’s, and with Benjamin Sheen on the organ, Sara Cutler on the harp, and Hyesang Park as a soprano soloist.
Performance Date: Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018. 7:30 PM.
Handel’s “Messiah”
With the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys, and New York Baroque Incorporated, Daniel Hyde will conduct soloists Elizabeth Weisberg, Meg Bragle, Thomas Cooley, and Alexander Dobson.
Performance Dates: Dec. 4 & 6, 2018. 7:30 PM.
Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols”
Daniel Hyde will conduct the Boys of Saint Thomas Choir, with Sara Cutler on the harp.
Performance Date: Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018. 5:30 PM.
Messiaen’s “La Nativite Du Seigneur”
Featuring Daniel Hyde on the organ.
Performance Date: Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018. 3:00 PM.
The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge
With music director Stephen Cleobury
Performance Date: Monday, April 1, 2019. 7:30 PM.
Bach’s “St. John Passion”
Featuring soloists Sarah Bailey, Jay Carter, Mark Bleeke, and Andrew Padgett.

Musical Meditations: Dupre
With Benjamin Sheen on the organ.
Performance Date: Monday, April 15, 2019. 6:45 PM.
