Composers Concordance to Present a 9/11 Memorial Concert

By Francisco Salazar

On Friday, Sept. 11, the Salomon Arts Gallery will host “9/11 Requiem: A New York Memorial.”

The musical tribute will be presented by the acclaimed CompCord Ensemble and will feature works from contemporary composers John Clark, Dan Cooper, Charles Coleman, Audrey Morse, Gene Pritsker, Dave Soldier, Kathleen Supové, and David Taylor. There will also be poetry by Robert C. Ford and Imelda O’Reilly.

The performance will honor the memory of a historic tragedy through the lens of modern sonic exploration and will showcase instrumentalists and vocalists performing live in the heart of Tribeca.

Composers Concordance, founded in 1984 by Joseph Pehrson and Patrick Hardish, presents contemporary music in innovative ways, with an emphasis on thematic programming. Directors Gene Pritsker and Dan Cooper co-curate the programs and lead the CompCord Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Big Band.
