Columbia University School of the Arts to Present ‘The Threepenny Opera’

Columbia University School of the Arts is set to present Weill and Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera.”

The work has been adapted by Leah Plante-Wiener and features additional music and orchestration by Nate Weida as well as a translation by Weida and Benjamin Viertel.

Viertel, who has worked on several off-Broadway productions, will direct the production as part of his Directing Thesis.

The cast includes Jake Brinskele, Jacqui Byrne, Fred Rice, Emily Kleypass, Adam Brett, David Hernandez III, Hannah Karpenko, Brayden Co, Caleb Christensen, Hanna Shykind, Darby Puckett, and Nate Weida.

“The Threepenny Opera” opens on Oct. 17, 2024 and runs for five performances through Oct. 20. Two shows, on Oct. 19 and 20, will feature matinee start times at 2 p.m. The other three performances kick off at 8 p.m.
