Claude Vivier’s ‘Kopernikus’ To Get Major Performances In Toronto & NYC

Claude Vivier’s “Kopernikus” is set for some major performances in both Toronto and New York over the next few months.

First up, the Ritual Opera for the Dead gets a series of showcases in Ontario, Canada starting on April 4, 2019. Subsequent presentations are set for April 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13. The work will be directed by Joel Ivany and stars Danielle MacMillan, Jonelle Sills, Nathalie Paulin, and Krisztina Szabó, Bruno Roy, Dion Mazerolle, and Alain Coulombe.

Then the work heads to New York for performances that will be presented by the Americas Society as part of the New York OperaFest. The work’s appearances on May 15 and 16 will be the first in New York.

In the New York performances, the work will feature videos by Sergio Policicchio. The featured performers include Katharine Dain, Amy Goldin, Kirsten Sollek, Hai-Ting Chinn, Christopher Herbert, Joseph Beutel, and Steven Hrycelak.
