Cincinnati Opera To Celebrate Centenary with Encore Performance Series

Cincinnati Opera has announced a series of encore performances to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company’s founding.

From June 27 to July 25, the company will be presenting some of its most cherished productions online and on the air with 90.9 WGUC.

The series will be opened by an hour-long program hosted by Evans Mirageas, the Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of Cincinnati Opera, which will chronicle the company’s beginnings through musical excerpts and more.

On this series, Mirageas noted, “When we realized our stages would be dark this summer, we knew we couldn’t let our big birthday go by without some sort of celebration. The operas featured in this series represent some of our most extraordinary productions from recent seasons. We’re so grateful to our partners at 90.9 WGUC for keeping the music going!”

The company will showcase a 2002 production of Strauss’ “Elektra” starring Anja Silja Deborah Polaski, Inga Nielsen, Robert Hale, and Kenneth Garrison.

The company will then broadcast a 2017 production Puccini’s “La Bohème” featuring Nicole Cabell, Jessica Rivera, Sean Pannikar, Rodion Pogossov, Nathan Stark, and Edward Nelson.

Broadcast Date: July 4. 1:00 pm.

Vinson Cole, Philippe Rouillon, Nathalie Paulin, Sarah Coburn, Milena Kitic, and Ruxandra Donose headline a 2006 production of Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffman.”

Broadcast Date: July 11. 1:00 pm.

Spears’ “Fellow Travelers” will be featured in a 2016 production featuring Aaron Blake, Joseph Lattanzi, Devon Guthrie, Alexandra Schoeny, and Marcus DeLoach.

Broadcast Date: July 18. 1:00 pm.

Latonia Moore, Michelle DeYoung, Antonello Palombi, Gordon Hawkins, and Morris Robinson star in a 2013 production of “Aida.”

Broadcast Date: July 25. 1:00 pm.
