Christopher Macchio Performs ‘Nessun Dorma’ at RNC

By Francisco Salazar

Following Republican Presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump’s rambling convention speech at the Republican National Convention, Christopher Macchio, Trump’s go-to tenor, performed Puccini’s famed “Nessun Dorma.”

According to the tenor, who took to social media to announce the performance, the aria which ends with the phrase “Vincerò” is Trump’s “Victory Anthem.”

It’s not the first time, “Nessun Dorma” has been used by the convicted felon and twice-impeached former President. In 2016, Trump famously used a recording of Luciano Pavarotti and Pavarotti’s widow Nicoletta Mantovani demanded that Trump stop using the tenor’s most famous aria recording at campaign events. At that time, she said that the Trump’s values were “incompatible” with Pavarotti’s.

Macchio’s performance at the RNC is not the first time he serenades the convicted felon and former president. The tenor famously gave a concert at the White House in 2020 performing Puccini’s aria as well as Schubert’s “Ave Maria.” The tenor has also appeared in the film “Cabrini,” which also featured famed tenor Rolando Villazón.
