Christine Goerke Joins Board of Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival

By Logan Martell

The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival has announced that dramatic soprano Christine Goerke has been appointed to its Board of Directors.

Goerke’s newest role will place her in charge of strategic planning, development, and community engagement.

“I am absolutely delighted that Christine Goerke has graciously agreed to join the board of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival,” Festival Artistic Director Paul Watkins wrote in a press release. “Michael and Virginia Geheb, our board chairs, introduced me to her stunning artistry several years ago and I was immediately entranced. When we met and worked together, it became clear to me that Christine was not just one of the most extraordinary singers of her generation, but also a passionately eloquent communicator and advocate for the arts.”

While the festival’s 2020 season has been postponed due to the coronavirus, the organization will be looking into alternative programming for the festival as it focuses its sights on next year.
