Christina Gansch, Adriana Gonzalez, Rame Lahaj & Irene Roberts Headline Opéra National de Lorraine’s 2021-22 Season

Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, France has announced its 2021-22 season. For the purpose of this article, we will focus on the vocal works only.

Opera

Rossi’s “Le Palais Enchanté” opens the season. The opera spotlights Victor Sicard as Orlando, Arianna Vendittelli as Angelica/Alceste, Fabio Trümpy as Ruggiero, and Mark Milhofer as Atlante. The cast also includes Lucía Martín-Cartón, Mariana Flores, Grigory Soloviov, André Lacerda, Valerio Contaldo, Gwendoline Blondeel, and Alexander Miminoshvili. Leonardo García Alarcón conducts the Cappella Mediterranea in a production by Fabrice Murgia.

Performance dates: Oct. 3 – 6, 2021

Jack Swanson performs Tamino, Christina Gansch portrays Pamina, and David Leigh stars as Sarastro in Anna Bernreitner’s production of Mozart‘s “Die Zauberflöte.” The cast will be rounded out by Audrey Luna, Susanna Hurrell, Ramya Roy, Gala El Hadidi, Anita Rosati, Michael Nagl, Mark Omvlee, and Christian Immler. Bas Wiegers conducts.

Performance dates: Dec. 17 – 28, 2021

Paul Dukas’ opera “Ariane et Barbe-bleue” features Carole Wilson, Héloïse Mas, Clara Guillon, Samantha Louis-Jean, Tamara Bounazou, and Catherine Hunold and Vincent Le Texier in the title roles. Jean-Marie Zeitouni conducts a production by Mikaël Serre.

Performance dates: Jan. 28 – Feb. 3, 2022

Irene Roberts stars in the title role of Silvia Costa’s production of Philippe Boesmans’ opera “Julie.” The cast also includes Dean Murphy and Lisa Mostin. Emilio Pomarico conducts.

Performance dates: March 27 – April 1, 2022

Messager’s opera “Fortunio” spotlights Anne-Catherine Gillet, Aliénor Feix, Franck Leguérinel, Pierre Derhet, Armando Noguera, Philippe-Nicolas Martin, and Luc Bertin-Hugault. Marta Gardolińska conducts a production by Denis Podalydès.

Performance dates: April 24 – 30, 2022

Rame Lahaj performs Mario Cavaradossi, Daniel Mirosław portrays Scarpia, and Salome Jicia stars in the title role in Silvia Paoli’s production of Puccini‘s “Tosca.” Tomasz Kumięga, Daniele Terenzi, Marc Larcher, and Jean-Vincent Blot round out the cast with Antonello Allemandi conducting.

Performance dates: June 22 – July 2, 2022

Concerts

Chœur de l’Opéra national de Lorraine presents works by Schubert, Brahms, Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, and Josef Rheinberger. Guillaume Fauchère is the Chorus Master.

Soprano Adriana Gonzalez performs works by Béla Bartók, Nadia Boulanger, Alberto Ginastera, Heitor Villa-Lobos, José Bragato, and Astor Piazzolla alongside pianist Hélio Vida.

Performance date: Nov. 22, 2021

Chœur de l’Opéra national de Lorraine presents works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Lili Boulanger, Hector Berlioz, Gabriel Fauré, Guy Ropartz, and César Franck. Guillaume Fauchère is the Chorus Master.

Performance date: March 13, 2022

Lyrical Theater

Jérémie Arcache, Benjamin d’Anfray, Cloé Lastère, and Agathe Peyrat star in “Où je vais la nuit.” The adaptation of Gluck‘s opera “Orphée et Eurydice” is directed by Jeanne Desoubeaux.

Performance dates: April 27 – 29, 2022

Youth Opera

Baritone Igor Bouin performs alongside conductor Chloé Dufresne.
