Choral Group Gloriæ Dei Cantores to Perform at Cape Cod’s Church of the Transfiguration

By Chris Ruel

The renowned choral group, Gloriæ Dei Cantores, will present two performances of classical favorites at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans, MA, on Aug. 4 and 5, 2023, at 7:30 pm.

The chorus, accompanied by a brass ensemble, orchestra, and a guest soloist, will perform at the Church of the Transfiguration, a church acclaimed as “an architectural wonder” by Cape Cod Travel Guide. This remarkable venue, adorned with frescoes, mosaics, glasswork, and sculptures crafted by both local and international artists, serves as the group’s home base.

On the program are Rutter’s “Gloria” and “All Things Bright and Beautiful,” Mozart’s, “Exsultate Jubilate,” and Elgar’s “Nimrod” from Enigma Variations, along with compositions by Holst, and others. Richard K. Pugsley will be on the podium.

Founded in 1988 by Pugsley, the group is an internationally known chorus. They’ve conducted three invitational tours in Russia, performed at St. Mark’s Basilica’s 900th anniversary in Venice, and took part in the annual Christmas tree lighting at Rockefeller Center.

Tickets are available now for purchase on Gloriæ Dei Cantores’ website. Youth (18 and younger) and student tickets are free. The concerts will also be live-streamed.
