At least 30 out of 41 members of a chorus in Spain have contracted COVID-19 following an indoor rehearsal, local authorities said.

The River Troupe Gospel rehearsed on Sep. 11, 2020, two days before the performance at the local festival in Sallent, a town in the province of Barcelona. One member of the chorus tested positive for COVID-19 following the performance on Sep. 13, which forced over 40 members of the chorus and their contacts into quarantine. Since then, at least 30 more singers have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The chorus claims that it obeyed the social distancing rule, as well as temperature checks, and wearing face masks for most of the rehearsal.

Spain is currently fighting a fierce second wave of COVID-19, with 704,209 cases and 31,118 deaths so far.
