Chicago Opera Theater is set to present “Another Sunrise” and “For a Look or a Touch.”

The production will open on May 27 at the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture. The productions are produced by Music of Remembrance, an organization dedicated to remembering the Holocaust through music. The double bill marks the Chicago Premiere of one-act operas both composed by Jake Heggie to a libretto by his longtime collaborator Gene Scheer.

“Another Sunrise” is set to star soprano Caitlin Lynch and tells the story of an intimate portrait of one Auschwitz survivor’s struggle to find words capable of describing her harrowing experiences to those who weren’t there. “For a Look or a Touch” will star bass- baritone Ryan McKinny and actor Curt Branom. They will portray two idealistic young lovers torn apart under Nazi rule.

The operas are in English with English supertitles and the program is 120 minutes with an intermission. The operas will also be presented May 28, 2023.
