France Musique will broadcast Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on Jan. 6, 2021. The performance has been traditionally held as a celebration of the new year.

The performance will spotlight soprano Chen Reiss, tenor Klaus Florian Vogt, bass Matthew Rose, and mezzo-soprano Tone Kummervold. Lahav Shani will conduct the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The presentation will also feature Le Chœur de Radio France.

Live performances in French opera houses and concert halls have been banned since late October 2020 due to the COVID-19 second wave. France Musique has recently taken on the humongous task of broadcasting Wagner’s “Der Ring des Nibelungen” from Opéra National de Paris.

The broadcast will be available on francemusique.com at 8 p.m. CET.
