
Charles Court Opera to Present ‘Iolanthe’
By David SalazarCharles Court Opera will feature a new production of “Iolanthe” in February 2026 at Wilton’s Music Hall.
The Gilbert and Sullivan piece will be directed by operetta specialist John Savournin and marks the company’s revival of the work after its planned London opening was canceled at the start of the first lockdown five years ago.
Savournin, currently appearing as Captain Corcoran in English National Opera’s “HMS Pinafore,” leads the creative team. He has recently directed “The Merry Widow” and “Trial by Jury” for Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park, among others.
Matthew Kellett stars as the Lord Chancellor and Meriel Cunningham appears as the Fairy Queen. Other cast members include William Morgan as Tolloller, Catrine Kirkman as Mountararat, Llio Evans as Phyllis, Matthew Palmer as Strephon/Willis, Eleanor O’Driscoll as Iolanthe, Sarah Prestwidge as Celia, and Martha Jones as Leila.
Performances are set from Feb. 17 – 28, 2026.
