Charles Court Opera to Perform ‘The Barber of Seville’

Charles Court Opera is set to perform Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.”

The opera will be performed from March 12 to March 23, 2024 with a cast that includes Nicholas Watts and Joseph Doody as Count Almaviva, Jonathan Eyers as Figaro, Samantha Price and Meriel Cunningham as Rosina, Matthew Kellett and Hugo Herman-Wilson as Don Basilio, Catrine Kirkman as Berta and Arthur Bruce as Fiorello.

The production is directed by CCO’s Artistic Director, John Savournin and will be sung in a sparkling English version written by CCO’s Musical Director, David Eaton. Set and costume design is by Good Teeth, with Lighting design by Ben Pickersgill.

The production will take place in the west with the famed Figaro who has emigrated and finds Count Almaviva, disguised as a cowboy in Bartolo’s Old Western saloon bar, sighing over the beautiful Rosina as she serenades the snoozing regulars.
