Charles Castronovo & Ekaterina Siurina Lead Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice’s 2022 Season

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice has announced its 13th  season which will present two major NYC companies in the small, upstate town of Phoenicia N.Y., Teatro Grattacielo and the New York City Opera.

The Phoenicia Festival of the Voice will present an amazing and innovative concert featuring “Opera in the Movies” with full chorus and orchestra, vignettes of the films which were enhanced by operas incredible drama and the world class soloists you’ve heard every year now for over a decade.  The Festival of the Voice will collaborate on this event with The Woodstock Film Festival. “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Philadelphia,” “Moonstruck” and “Fatal Attraction” are just a few of the opera/movie combos to which you will be treated.

Event Date: August 7, 2022

The Teatro Grattacielo opera company will bring its special combination of great young singers, provocative staging and projections to open this season with Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” The production is a dedication to the Spanish cinematographer Pedro Almodovar and Cuban Bolero singer La Lupe.

Performance Date: August 5, 2022

The Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice will present the New York City Opera’s production of “La Traviata.” Soprano Ekaterina Siurina and tenor Charles Castronovo headline the production alongside Michael Chioldi. Music Director Maestro Constantine Orbelian conducts.
