Chanticleer Announces 2023-24 Season ‘Music of a Silent World’

Multiple Grammy Award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer has announced its 2023-24 season titled, “Music of a Silent World.”

All programs are performed in the Bay Area and on tour, exact dates and locations can be found here.

The new program “Music of a Silent World” centers on Majel Connery’s “The Rivers are our Brothers,” an ecological song cycle. Also featured are works by composer-in-residence Ayanna Woods, Heinrich Isaac, Max Reger; and new arrangements of “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty and “The Weather” by Lawrence.

Performance Dates: September 22, 2023 – July 7, 2024

An all-William Byrd program titled “Music for a Hidden Chapel” is hosted by the Academy of Early Music.

Performance Date: October 21, 2023

Holiday favorite, “A Chanticleer Christmas” will be performed across the country from New York City to Los Angeles and San Francisco, with additional stops in Chicago, Louisville, at a favorite venue in Goshen, Indiana, and more.

Performance Dates: November 25 – December 23, 2023

“Breathe Together, Sing Together” is a program of prayerful Gregorian and Buddhist chant, meditative Renaissance polyphony, and soothing contemporary compositions.

Performance Dates: March 21-24, 2024

Featured on the same program as Guillaume de Machaut’s magnum opus, “Messe de Nostre Dame,” are secular songs of minstrels and bards from the Middle Ages.
