Channa Malkin to Make Polish Debut
By David SalazarSoprano Channa Malkin is set to make her Polish debut on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2022 at the Filharmonia Kameralna.
The soprano will perform arias and romances from Rossini operas and zarzuelas. Malkin will perform alongside Spanish conductor Santiago J. Otero and violinist Daniel Garcia de Castro.
“Zarzuela is one of my all time favorite genres because it combines sensuality, playfulness and strong human emotions. I can’t wait to debut some of these beautiful and fiery arias with orchestra,” Malkin told OperaWire about her program and what inspired it. “And of course Rossini’s Rosina is one of the most fun characters in opera. ‘Una voce poco fa’ really shows her spunky character and the fact that she refuses to be defined by her unfortunate circumstances. Plus there is never a bad time for some extravagant coloratura”
Malkin has appeared with such organizations as Wadopera, the Dutch National Opera, the Amsterdam Grachtenfestival, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
