By Francisco Salazar

Cerise Jacobs and Julian Wahner’s opera “REV. 23” is set to make its New York premiere at the Prototype Festival.

“REV. 23,” which had its world premiere in Boston in 2017, adds a satirical twist to an imagined extra chapter in the biblical Book of Revelation.

The new production will be conducted by Daniela Candillari and will star soprano Colleen Daly in the role of Persephone. Countertenor Michael Maniaci will appear as the Archangel Michael.

Rounding out the cast will be baritone Alexander Elliott, tenor Brian Giebler, bass Paul An, soprano Sophia Byrd, mezzo-soprano Melanie Long, soprano Anna Schubert and mezzo-soprano Naomi Louisa O’Connell. The opera will be directed by James Darrah.

Performances are set to be held on Jan 17-18, 2020 at John Jay College’s Gerald W. Lynch Theater in Manhattan.
