Central City Opera To Close Its Festival Season With ‘Encore: A Musical Revue’

By Nicole Kuchta

Central City Opera will conclude its festival season with “Encore: A Musical Revue.”

The event, conceived by and starring Curt Olds, is described in the press release as an “exhilarating and eclectic mix of old and new music theater pieces by Broadway and Off-Broadway composers.”

Olds will be joined by members of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program. John Baril will conduct.

Opera fans in Colorado can still catch performances of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” Britten’s “Billy Budd,” and Debussy’s “The Blessed Damozel” / Poulenc’s “Litanies to the Black Virgin” during this final week of the season.

The two showings of “Encore: A Musical Review” will take place on Aug. 3 & 6, 2019 at the 550-seat jewel box opera house in Central City, CO.
