On Sept. 12, during Celine Dion’s first performance in six years, the pop star performed an opera aria.

Dion performed “Ebben? Ne andrò lontana” from “La Wally.” The aria was performed during a setlist that includes the diva’s popular songs like “Because You Loved Me,” “Dans un autre monde,” “Courage,” “My Heart Will Go On,” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”

“Finally, it’s amazing we are all together. I made a promise to come back and to be back on stage. So here I am, singing for you, singing for me, singing life,” Dion said of her return during which she performed for a sold-out crowd of 35,000 fans.

Earlier in her career, Dion had discussions for opera projects that never happened.

In 2022, Dion canceled her North American tour dates because of severe muscle spasms and in December, she announced she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disease. She said the disease affected every aspect of her life, making it difficult to walk, and affected her vocal cords. All her tour dates were canceled.
